Newsletter 4 – 15th February 2018

Dear Parents / Carers,

Firstly, a reminder that tomorrow, Friday 16th February, is an INSET day for staff and school will be closed for pupils. We return on Monday 26th February 2018 for Spring Term 4 and I hope by then the weather may be a little more spring-like too!

Following Governor approval, I can now inform you of next year’s proposed INSET days:

  1. Monday 3rd September 2018
  2. Monday 5th November 2018
  3. Monday 25th February 2019
  4. Monday 3rd June 2019
  5. Monday 22nd July 2019

Book Week 2018 The week beginning 26th February is National Book Week and we are having a special week in school called ‘Brilliant Books’. We are also using this week to launch our ‘Brilliant Year of Reading’ project and this will be linked with our next School Improvement Plan. Overleaf you can read, in detail, about Brilliant Books’ week and our school book fair.

Parents’ Consultations Week Our next Parent Consultations are on Wednesday March 7th and Thursday March 8th 2018.  The format for the meetings will be the same as in the Autumn Term. We would kindly ask that you stick to the 10 minutes allocated, to ensure that the evening runs smoothly. Attached is a sign-up sheet, which we would be grateful if you could return by Tuesday 27th February, after half term. Nursery sign-up sheets will be available in the Nursery from Monday 26th February.

Mobile phones Please may I remind everyone that children should not bring mobile phones into school except in emergency circumstances, and that they should be handed into the office and collected at the end of the school day.

School Attendance An updated policy from DCC has been approved by Governors, reiterating the importance of good attendance and punctuality. I am under increasing pressure to challenge any regular lateness or absence, with phone calls, letters and fines.  I am therefore, appealing for your help to get children into school on time and to avoid holiday absence except in truly exceptional circumstances. Many thanks for your on-going support with this.

Finally, may I wish you an enjoyable half-term break.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Palmer-Coole
