Newsletter 4 – 20th December 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

Stop press…

Staffing news I am delighted to inform you that following interviews on Tuesday, the governors have appointed Mrs Charlotte Harris to job share with Mrs Harrison. The class will now be Mrs Harrison and Mrs Harris! Mrs Harris impressed us all both in her interview and observation and I am confident will be a fantastic addition to the upper junior team.

Carols for charity 2018 This was a superb event and we are very grateful to Harlequin Brass for their wonderful musical support. As many of you are aware, Maria Hepburn- one of our lower junior TAs, has been very poorly for a while now and she chose Lymphoma Action as our charity this year. I am really pleased that we have been able to send them £500 following the concert to continue their research and support work. A huge and heartfelt thanks to everyone and especially from Maria.

Christmas concerts A big well done to all the children in EYFS and key stage 1 who performed so brilliantly in the nativity plays this year. They all did so well and sang up so confidently. We were very proud of them all. Thank you for coming to support these events.

Help please!  Unfortunately, we have had a number of children with a sickness virus recently. These kinds of viruses do spread really easily, especially if children are sick at school. In order to prevent spread we do have a 48 hour rule which helps to contain such outbreaks. Please do keep your child at home if they have been sick. We have reminded all the children about handwashing and the need to take care with equipment etc. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Race for life 2019  On Tuesday, Jennie Sim (Ryder and Bobbie –Eve’s Mum) came into school to talk to the children about Race for Life 2019 and asked if the children could help by drawing a picture of themselves and anyone else (friends or family) taking part in the race, as next year the race is open to anyone not just women. We have provided a back sheet for the children to draw on. If they wish to do a picture over the holidays, they can bring it back to the office and we will pass them on to be displayed in town. We will be submitting a WHPS team to the event in June and will let you know the race number if you wish to join us. (I had better start training!)

Finally, can I thank all the staff and children for a great term’s work and wish you all a healthy and happy Christmas. I look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday January 7th 2019.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Palmer-Coole
